About me
I have arrived as a counsellor fairly late in my working life, a late bloomer you might say!
It has also been said by family “If there’s a hard way Carole, you won’t be deterred”. I don’t always seek the easy way and I have a determination to get underneath and to the bottom of things.
The passion I have for being with other humans, sitting in their hard place and working together to get underneath and to the bottom of things can be a challenge but feels just where I want and need to be.
After graduating from the University of Stirling in 1986 I worked in the fields of IT Software Development and Customer Services (including registration of births, marriages and deaths).
Keen to increase my ability to support people in distress I began studying counselling and gained my Diploma with distinction in Person-Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Highlands & Islands in 2018.
I have worked with 50+ clients and have over 400hrs counselling experience.
I am a counsellor member of COSCA, the professional body for Counselling and Psychotherapy in Scotland (membership no. 3530) and of the Psychologists Protection Society (PPS).
As part of abiding by COSCA’s Code of Practice and Statement of Ethics, I take ongoing personal and professional development very seriously, participating in regular further training and clinical supervision. Should you need to raise a complaint please follow the link to COSCA’s complaints guidelines and procedure. http://www.cosca.org.uk/guidance-policies/complaints
